"We are determined to get rid of the colonial legacy. The motto ‘No to colonialism’ is not just a slogan, but a conscious political position of the people of Guadeloupe," Secretary General of the People’s Union for the Liberation of Guadeloupe Jean Jacob Bicep said at the conference “Towards the Decolonization of Guadeloupe: Challenges and Perspectives” held in Baku, Report informs.
“We can no longer allow our people to continue to live under the yoke of colonialism. Our attitude is very serious. We are not going to remain silent - and we will not. We are looking for justice and truth. Our participation in events such as today’s conference in Baku shows that we have faith, hope and determination to do everything possible to liberate ourselves from the colonial legacy,” he added.
Having expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan and the Baku Initiative Group for their support, Bicep noted the importance of international solidarity.
"The Azerbaijani people are our brothers. Despite the geographical distance, we are united by a common aspiration - the fight for justice," he said.
