Azerbaijan and Türkiye discuss development of Middle Corridor

Azerbaijan and Türkiye have discussed the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor), increasing cargo shipments along this corridor, and cooperation opportunities at the Baku port, Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Nabiyev said in a post on X.

According to Report, he noted that the talks took place during a meeting with Albayrak Holding Chairman Ahmet Albayrak.

In 2024, cargo volumes along the Middle Corridor increased by 62%, reaching 4.5 million tons. This figure is expected to grow to 5.2 million tons in 2025, of which 4.2 million tons will transit through the territories of the participating countries. Of this volume, 2.5 million tons will be dry cargo (96,000 TEU), and 1.7 million tons will be oil.

By 2027, the corridor’s throughput capacity could reach 10 million tons per year, creating a stable foundation for expanding Azerbaijan’s transit potential and attracting additional investments in infrastructure.
