The Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of Azerbaijan, Sabina Aliyeva, held a meeting in Germany with the Federal Commissioner for Human Rights Policy and Humanitarian Assistance, Lars Castellucci.
Report informs that the meeting was also attended by Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Germany Nasimi Aghayev.
During the meeting, Sabina Aliyeva spoke about the activities of the ombudsman institution, including in the field of protecting the rights of children and persons with disabilities, ensuring the right to information and preventing discrimination.
The ombudsman touched upon the issue of the mine threat in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan. She emphasized that the mines laid by the Armenians continue to pose a danger to civilians, including women and children, and hinder the return of internally displaced persons and restoration work. It was emphasized that despite numerous requests, accurate maps of minefields have not yet been handed over to Azerbaijan.
The ombudsman noted that about 4,000 Azerbaijanis went missing during the First Karabakh War, and their fate is still unknown.
