An official reception was organized by the Embassy of Azerbaijan in France and the Permanent Mission to UNESCO in the capital of France, Paris, on the occasion of May 28 - Independence Day and Armed Forces Day of Azerbaijan,
Report informs citing the French bureau that the event was attended by high-ranking representatives of state and government structures, members of parliament, representatives of socio-political circles and the diplomatic corps, company executives, as well as compatriots living in France.
First, the national anthems of Azerbaijan and France were played.
The Ambassador of Azerbaijan to France, Leyla Abdullayeva, provided guests with detailed information about the establishment of the Azerbaijan People's Republic and the reforms it implemented. She noted that the republic granted political and civil rights to all its citizens regardless of nationality, class, and gender, and was the first in the East to grant women the right to vote and to establish equality between men and women.
The Permanent Representative of Azerbaijan to UNESCO, Elman Abdullayev, spoke about the steps taken by Azerbaijan to protect world cultural heritage. He emphasized that the process of building a democratic, legal, and secular state, as well as the development of civil society, continues successfully in the country.
The Military Attaché of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in France, Lieutenant Colonel Javid Abdullayev, informed the participants about the history of the creation and development of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan, their honorable mission to ensure the independence, territorial integrity, and national security of the country, as well as the successes achieved. He reminded that the first national armed forces in Azerbaijan were formed at the beginning of the last century.
The Military Attaché emphasized that today Azerbaijan has one of the most powerful armies in the region. He added that the victory in the Patriotic War, the restoration of the country's territorial integrity and international law are clear confirmations of this strength.
