The Middle Corridor - Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, TITR - is becoming a key link in Eurasian trade, especially given its sustainability, multimodality and strategic importance, Chairman of the Board of the Chamber of International Commerce of Kazakhstan, member of the Board, head of the Secretariat of the Chairman of the Presidium of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs "Atameken" Murat Karimsakov said during the 8th plenary session of the Business Council of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) held in Baku, Report informs.
"The international transport and logistics corridor passing through China, Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia, then to Türkiye and European countries is actively developing. A logistics center built by Azersun Holding also operates in the special economic zone of the Aktau seaport. This center plays an important role in the storage, processing and transportation of Azerbaijani fruits and vegetables, opening up opportunities for their export to the countries of Central Asia and then to China," Karimsakov said.
In 2024, the volume of cargo transportation along the TITR increased by 62%, reaching 4.5 million tons. In 2025, a further increase to 5.2 million tons is expected, of which 4.2 million tons will pass through the countries participating in the route. Of this volume, 2.5 million tons will be dry cargo (equivalent to 96,000 TEU), and 1.7 million tons will be oil.
The capacity of the route by 2027 may reach 10 million tons per year, which will create a sustainable basis for expanding the transit potential of Azerbaijan and attracting additional investment in infrastructure.
