There are 3,800 people in Azerbaijan with disabilities resulting from the Chernobyl nuclear disaster, Report informs, citing the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population.
Of these, more than 2,000 individuals acquired disabilities due to military service at the nuke plant, and around 1,800 during the liquidation of the disaster's aftermath.
The Ministry notes that these citizens are provided with housing and transportation, disability pensions ranging from 150 to 270 manats, and presidential allowances ranging from 200 to 500 manats depending on the degree of loss of working capacity. The state also pays one-time benefits for medical treatment and provides support to the children of participants involved in the disaster cleanup.
